Q.  I want certain advertisement e-mails, can I customize what messages are filtered?

A.  Yes.  GT Mail gives you the ability to allow (White List) mail from otherwise blocked sources.  This is accomplished by either logging on to our Online Management System at http://console.globaltenant.com or by sending an e-mail to support@globaltenant.com with "White List" as the subject line.

Q.  Can I look at the filtered messages to ensure that they are actually Spam?

A.  Yes.  GT Mail can either auto delete all your spam or deliver it to a mailbox of your choice for review.  This option can be changed at anytime by either logging on to our Online Management System at http://console.globaltenant.com or by sending an e-mail to support@globaltenant.com with "Forwarding Options" as the subject line.

Q.  What happens to my mail if my server or internet connection goes down?

A.  By default GT Mail will cache your e-mail for up to 5 days in the event that your mail server or internet connection goes down and deliver it when you come back online.  GT Mail uses a Real-Time Scan and Deliver Engine which only caches mail in the event communications are lost with the final destination mail server.  This service can be disabled at your request by sending an e-mail to support@globaltenant.com with "Cache" as the subject line.  If you request no caching and your server or internet connection goes down your mail will most likely be bounced back.

Q. How do I report false positives?

A.  Although false positives are rare it is important that you report them to us.  We will then analyze the message to determine why it was filtered.  To report a false positive please send an e-mail to support@globaltenant.com with "False Positive" as the subject line.

Q.  How do I report uncaught Spam?

A.  Currently GT Mail catches over 98% of all Spam related messages.  Unfortunately some Spam messages do still get through.  Although rare if you do receive a message that you consider Spam, it is very important that you inform us so we can determine why it wasn't detected and make sure it is detected in the future.  Uncaught Spam feedback is the best tool we have to ensure GT Mail continues to have a 98% or better catch rate.  To report uncaught Spam please send an e-mail to support@globaltenant.com with "Uncaught Spam" as the subject line.

Q. Can Global Tenant read my mail?

A.  No.  Global Tenant's Scan and Deliver Engine delivers e-mail to your server in Real-Time.  The only time your mail is actually stored on a Global Tenant server is in the event that your server is not available to accept delivery, in which case Global Tenants server will cache it for later delivery. Customers that are concerned about the security of cached mail can request to have this service turned off, however turning off caching will result in mail being bounced back in the event your mail server becomes unavailable.  To turn off mail caching please send an e-mail to support@globaltenant.com with "Cache" in the subject line.

Q.  What is an MX Record?

A.  A Message Exchanger (MX) record is simply an entry in a domain name database that identifies the e-mail server responsible for handling e-mail for that domain, think of it as the postal address for a mail server. With GT Mail's Spam filtering service, you re-direct your MX record to Global Tenant so all e-mail from the outside will go through GT Mail and its filtering process before it is delivered to your server.

Q.  Will it take longer for my mail to be delivered to me?

A.  No.  Global Tenants Real-Time Scan and Deliver Engine takes less than one second to scan.

Top

Q.  Does GT Mail affect my outgoing mail?

A.  No.  Unless you're a Spammer!!!

Top

Q.  How does GT Mail prevent relaying?

A.  Since all of your mail is directed to GT Mail's servers for scanning and then delivered to your server, you can lockdown your firewall and/or server to only accept incoming SMTP (Port 25) requests from Global Tenants Server's IP Addresses.  Effectively stopping relaying from any other IP.

Q.  Do I still need my internal Anti-Virus Software?

A.  Absolutely Yes! GT Mail's Advanced Virus Scanning Feature is intended to be used as a compliment to your existing Anti-Virus strategy, in no way is it be intended as a replacement.  GT Mail scans all your incoming mail with dual commercial grade scanning engines, and is constantly updated. Although e-mail is the most common transport method for viruses they can still enter your network from other mediums; like infected laptops, or floppy disks.  Even though GT Mail's Anti-Virus  scanners were blocking the latest version of the Sassor virus within one hour of it's discovery Global Tenant does not imply or warrantee that no virus will ever be sent to your server.
